We are hoping to run Lent Courses on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday after the 10am service. The subject will be the Lord’s Prayer. Palm Crosses

As we draw nearer to the beginning of Lent, please could you bring in any Palm Crosses you have at home from previous years in preparation of us burning them to produce the Ash for Ash Wednesday (26th February).

Thought for Lent

In Lent, many Christians commit to giving up certain items such as chocolate, cakes and biscuits in order to replicate the account of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ's journey into the desert for 40 days. This year, why not do something positive for God's world such as reducing meat consumption by having a vegetarian day each week and being aware of how far our food has travelled. Examples would be dwarf beans from Kenya and apples from New Zealand. A reduction in the amount of plastic packaged items we buy would also help cut the amount of plastic waste we generate

One to One Bible Study (or two’s and three’s)

Dmitry is happy to help folk study the Gospel of John on a one to one basis (or as a family or in two’s and three’s).If this is something you would be interested in or indeed know a bit more about it, please have a word with him.

Junior Church

We are very fortunate at St. Mary’s to have so many young people and also the leaders to help. However if anybody else would be prepared to join the team of leaders so that we only call upon people once a month it would be helpful if you would speak either to Dmitry or Malcolm. You will need to be prepared to provide us with a reference (for relatively new procedures introduced by the Diocese) and also be happy to undertake some safeguarding training.
