Baptism of Christ

New member of Staff

I am delighted to tell you that we have a new member of ordained staff at St Mary’s. His name is Dmitry Lutsenko and he will begin at St Mary’s as soon as his DBS clearance is through. Dmitry is married to Olya and they have two children, Olivia and Thomas. This has all come rather suddenly and I was only able to tell PCC on Sunday 22nd December. Dmitry will live in Hinckley and commute to St Mary’s. You may have seen him and his family over the Christmas period but if not, you will soon get to know them.

Coffee Club

Coffee Club meets again on Wednesday 22nd January 2020.Price£1.Tea or Coffee. All welcome.

Friendship Club

Meet in the church centre twice monthly. (on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month) from 10-12 noon and all are welcome. They next meet on Thursday 23rd January 2020.

St Mary’s Luncheon Club

Do come along to St Mary’s Luncheon Club at 12 noon. For £4 you will receive an excellent meal. The next meal will be on Thurs 23rd January. All welcome. Please let Malcolm know.

Bible Study Group

The Wednesday Bible Study group will meet again on Wednesday 15th January 2020 at 10.45am.All welcome.

Annual Parochial Church Meeting

It’s that time of year again! This year our Annual Parochial Church Meetings (AGM) are to be held on Sunday 29th March after our 10am service. Various things need to happen before then though. Please look out for the Electoral Roll (membership) revision in February. If you are not on our electoral roll and worship with us regularly you should be! Forms will be available in a couple of weeks. If you normally write a report for the Annual Meeting papers please be thinking about it. We will need reports by Sunday 1stMarch at the latest! Also please consider standing for PCC.PCC meets 5 or 6 times a year and is responsible for the day to day running of St. Mary’s.

Mentoring Young People

If you would be interested in mentoring young people to help make positive life choices by receiving training on topics including Safeguarding and gangs and youth violence, please see the notice in the Church Centre and apply to the positive youth foundation who are seeking to help young people in positive ways. Training will be given (8 hours in total).

Post Christmas Food Bank

Whilst people are generous in the lead up to Christmas the level of donations tends to fall in January and this can be a bleak month for families. If you can give, items such as tinned meat, tinned fish, rice, rice pudding or tinned fruit will be welcomed although other items will be gratefully received. There is a box in the church centre for donations.

Skittles Night

If you would like to join members of Walsgrave Baptist Church at a Skittles Night on Friday 21st February 2020 at Wolvey Bowling Club 7pm please contact Pete Gales at petegales1954@gmail.com to book your place. Tickets are £6 for fish + chips/chicken + chips/or veggie alternative.

Rejoice in Our Oneness in Christ

As part of The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity St Chad’s Church, Wood End are holding a service to “Rejoice in Our Oneness in Christ.”This will be held on Sunday 19th January at 6pm.All are welcome.
