Thank you

For the best part of 2018 and the early part of 2019 my life just seemed to grind to a shuddering halt as I was so limited to anything I could normally do due to the fact that I was in so much pain.

I lost count of the amount of meetings I missed, quizzes went out of the window and by the time Christmas came I just couldn’t think straight at all.

But it’s at times like these when friends rally round and now I’d like to say a very big thank you to all my dear friends at St Mary’s for being there, not only for me but also for Keith as well.  They gave me hope and encouragement through all my negativity and despair, through a time of extreme difficulty for us both and I don’t know how I can ever show my gratitude and appreciation for all the support and help we’ve received, but especially and most importantly your prayers. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.   Valerie & Keith

Sue Morton

After 19 years as a licensed Reader, Sue Morton has decided to stand back from the up front role of Reader.  This means she will no longer help lead Sunday services and preach but she will be as much in evidence on Sundays, leading intercessions and reading lessons.  She will also continue with visiting and taking communion to some people around the parish.  We are very much indebted to Sue who has served St Mary’s faithfully over the years.  Her last appearance ‘up front’ will be on Easter Day, when she will be preaching at the 10am service.

Church Cleaning

Our volunteers for Church Cleaning have dwindled a little and it would be good if a few, preferably younger folk, could help out.  Currently we ask people to spend about 1 hour cleaning the Church and Centre 6 times a year.  Our oldest volunteer still helps out in his 80’s!It would be considerate all round if we could lower the average age.  Please speak to Malcolm if you feel able to help out and he will tell you what needs to be done.

Annual Meeting Preparations

Nomination forms are now posted for churchwardens and members of PCC.  If you feel that you could offer something in these roles, please do consider standing.

We would like to spread the Easter Message further this year.  Could you perhaps buy an extra Easter egg that we can give to Carriers of Hope and City Mission to distribute. If these could be brought to church by 7th April.

Also, to raise money for the church we would like to raffle a chocolate hamper.  Please donate - we will draw the raffle on Easter Sunday.
