St. Mary's Church

Families with young children who live within the parish or who are connected to the church are very welcome to come for baptism.  Tradition suggests three godparents (two of the same sex as the child and one of the opposite sex) and a maximum of five (not all the same sex).  Church law demands that all godparents have to have been baptised/christened themselves though unbaptised adults may act as a supporter of the child being baptised.  We generally recommend that godparents be over the age of 16 to have a greater understanding of the role they are taking on.  There is no fee for baptism but we are grateful for any donations made at the service, which go towards the upkeep of the church.  If you wish to book a baptism, please contact us via - or ring the church office on 024 7661 8845.  You will either be invited to come to the church or we can visit you at home to complete the simple application form and to talk you through the baptism service.

If you would like to get married at St Mary's one of you must have a qualifying connection to the parish.  These connections include living within our parish boundaries (you may check this by entering your postcode into the A Church Near You website,  ) either of you were baptised at St Mary's, any of your parents or grandparents were married at St Mary's, either of you have lived within the parish boundaries for at least six months or either of you have worshipped at St Mary's regularly for at least six months before the date of the wedding.

The cost for the summer of 2022 is £857.00 which covers the organist, flowers, bellringers and printed orders of service.  Outside the summer, a further cost of £45 is added for heating.  If you would like to contact us via or ring the church office on 024 7661 8845, we can arrange for an informal chat or a meeting at church.
