Your
Wedding will be conducted by Frances or Malcolm Tyler, who
will be available to discuss with you in confidence, any personal or
general matters relating to your forthcoming marriage. You will meet
three months before the wedding to finalise the arrangements. In the
meantime, these are the things you need to be thinking about:- |
|
| Music | To be played as you enter
the church. To be played as you leave the church. To be played during the signing of the registers. |
| Hymns | Two or Three to be sung during the service. |
| Wedding Rings | One or Two. |
| Lesson Reader | Who you would like if available, to read. |
| Witnessess | Two people over the age of 18, to sign the registers. |
| Flowers | To be provided, by us or other florister. |
| Banns | They are a legal
requirement for which you are responsible. They will be called at the
10.00am service, on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sunday of the month before
your wedding, unless advised otherwise. You will also need to arrange
for them to be called, if one of you lives in another parish, at your
local parish church. The fee in 2008 for publishing banns and producing
the certificate is £34. |
| Rehearsal | There will be a rehearsal
during the week of your wedding. You will be required to bring any fees
payable, in cash at this time. |
| Fees | In 2008 the cost
of a wedding at St. Mary's is £590. We require a non-returnable
deposit of £50 within one month of your booking to confirm the
date. This fee is inclusive of the cost of, the service, the calling
of the Banns, the organ, the bells, the decoration of the church with
flowers, a printed order of service on white card and a contribution
to the lighting and heating. |
| Video Recording | There is an additional
fee of £55, for the use of video recording equipment in the church,
if you or your guests wish to record the service. |
| Ushers | Their duties are
to welcome your guests at church with books, to collect them after the
service and to check that the church is left tidy. |
| Confetti | Please ask your guests
to only throw paper confetti. It is available at most newsagents, and
is much more environmentally friendly than the metalised type now commonly
avaiable. |
| Parking | Your guests are welcome
to use the car park at the Red Lion (next door to the church), but the
management ask that they use the top part of the car park or the area
furthest away from the entrance. |
| Marriage Preparation | At St. Mary's we
offer a Marriage Preparation Day, for all couples being married in the
church. We realise that everyone's marriage is different, and that no-one
can be completely prepared for married life, but we hope that you will
feel able to come along on a Sunday to join with others being married
here, in thinking; about marriage. It will be very informal and no-one
will be expected to answer any awkward or embarrassing questions. You
will be given details of the course, closer to the date of your wedding. |
The
people of St.Mary's warmly welcome you to your parish church, and any
of our services. Remember it is as much your church as ours and we will
try to make you feel at home, without smothering you. |
