Fourteenth
Sunday
after Trinity

Thought for the week:-

“Following Jesus is expensive - it costs everything, but it’s worth it.”

A warm welcome to you on this Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

The flowers in the lady chapel this week are in remembrance of what would have been the Wedding Anniversary of Ann and Barry Walker.

    Moonlight Walk
Glynis is planning on doing the ‘Moonlight Walk’ for Myton Hospice in memory of Ann Walker and is looking for sponsorship. It is an 8 mile walk around Leamington and Warwick and starts at 10 pm on 18th September. Please speak to Glynis or donate on line at www.justgiving.com/Glynis-Wood. Thanks Glynis

    Parking at the Red Lion
We are hoping to negotiate with the Red Lion about parking in the car park but at the moment things are not hopeful. When we have news we will let you know. In the meantime we are low on parking permits but have asked the wardens not to come on a Sunday.

    Coffee Club
The Coffee Club meets next on Wed 15th September at 10.45am. Cost £1. All welcome

Salvation Army Band Concert - 18th September
PCC and Sister Chris have agreed that this year’s concert, given by the City of Coventry Salvation Army Band will be part of Mission2Grow. The concert will be held in church, starting at 7.30 pm tickets are £4 each with the proceeds being shared between St Mary’s Restoration Fund and for the work of the Salvation Army. If previous year’s concerts are anything to go by, those attending will be able to enjoy an evening of varied music and fellowship. Please do your best to join us! Gary Croshaw

    Franciscan Morning/Evening
All are welcome to our pre Mission2Grow session about the Franciscans. It will be a video and story session lasting about 1¼ hours and both sessions will be identical. The evening session will be on Monday 6th September and the morning one on Wednesday 8th September at 10.45am.

    Mission Help needed
During Mission2Grow in September we are hoping that members of the Parish would not mind offering one or two meals to the three Franciscans leading the Mission. The hope is that people would be host to one leader for one meal (or possibly two) of an evening. The team do not want to put people out and would not be expecting anything elaborate. If you could help out with this, please speak to Tony Thistlewood.

    Car Pool Help Needed
Members of Mission2Grow transport group may approach you over the next few weeks to ask if you will join a car pool to provide transport around the parish for the three missioners during their stay (September 16th - 26th). It will be much appreciated if you can offer to help.

Picnic at Coombe Abbey - Saturday 18th September
As part of the mission there will be a picnic at Coombe Abbey on Saturday 18th September 12 noon - 3 pm. Please let us know if you are able to come by signing the list in the centre and we will be in touch about what to bring!

    Your talents required…..
On Saturday 25th September, the last Saturday of Mission2Grow we shall be holding a talent show and need you to take part! Dust off your talent, be it a poem, monologue, musical instrument or dance and tell Tony Thistlewood about it. This is to be a fun event - not too serious please.

    Help needed for Walsgrave Festival
The Walsgrave Festival (at School on 11th September) is in need of volunteer helpers. If you could offer help even for an hour on the day please speak to Malcolm. Also Cakes and bottles for sale and stalls would be helpful if you are at all able.

    Mission Healing Service
On the Tuesday evening of the mission (21st September) there will be a service here at church for Healing and wholeness. Please put the date in your diary and come along. We are all in need of wholeness!
