Newsletter - 27th June 2010

A warm welcome to you on this Fourth Sunday after Trinity. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

Malcolm and Stella
Today (at 10am) Malcolm is helping out at St John the Divine in Willenhall as Katrina Scott is in hospital whilst Stella is in the Oxford diocese, deaconing for a friend who has been recently priested. The friend will be returning the favour for Stella next week-end here.

Mission Help needed
During Mission2Grow in September we are hoping that members of the Parish would not mind offering one or two meals to the three Franciscans leading the Mission. The hope is that people would be host to one leader for one meal (or possibly two) of an evening. The team do not want to put people out and would not be expecting anything elaborate. If you could help out with this, please speak to Tony Thistlewood.

Thank you
Barry Walker would like to thank everyone for their financial support towards Myton Hospice following Ann’s death. The total raised was £1,277.90.

Confirmation Groups
We are continuing confirmation groups for adults and younger people this week. Adults are Monday, 8pm at 33 Brookshaw Way and younger folk on Tuesday after school (3.20 ish) in the Octagon.

Coffee Club
The Coffee Club meets next on Wednesday 23rd June and 7th & 21st July at 10.45 am. Cost £1. All welcome

Loft Clear Out
Following the roof issues some stuff in the loft got damaged. We need a clean out to see what can be recovered for sale at the Christmas Fayre. So I hereby call a working party on July 6th (7-8pm) to sort out the loft. (if many people come the emphasis will be on party and not on work). No physical strength required.

Stellas Ordination
The Bishop of Warwick will be ordaining Stella as a Priest on this coming Saturday July 3rd at 4.00 pm in the Cathedral. It would be great to see you all there. If you require a lift there is a list to sign up on.

The morning after the night before
On Sunday 4th July, the day after my ordination I will be celebrating my first Eucharist at 10am (doing the bits Malcolm normally does). This will be a great celebration followed by a family picnic at Coombe Abbey. The idea being - everyone brings a picnic and a chair - we all go to Coombe Abbey - and play games. Again a list for those requiring a lift is on the noticeboard.

Your talents required…..
On Saturday 25th September, the last Saturday of Mission2Grow we shall be holding a talent show and need you to take part! Dust off your talent, be it a poem, monologue, musical instrument or dance and tell Tony Thistlewood about it. This is to be a fun event - not too serious please.

Advance Notice
PCC have decided to hold a Christmas Fayre on 27th November. There will be a meeting to start the organisation for this on 5th July (details to follow).

Wednesday Morning Study Goup
With great originality of mind the group which had met in Lent on a Wednesday morning and which has continued to meet has re-branded itself ‘The Wednesday Morning Study Group’. The next meeting will be on 30th June.

Wanted …. straight wooden coat hangers for Audrey Curtis. Please see her for details.
