Newsletter - 20th June 2010

A warm welcome to you on this Third Sunday after Trinity. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

Confirmation Groups
We are continuing confirmation groups for adults and younger people this week. Adults are Monday, 8pm at 33 Brookshaw Way and younger folk on Tuesday after school (3.20 ish) in the Octagon. These will resume this week.

Coffee Club
The Coffee Club meets next on Wednesday 23rd June and 7th & 21st July at 10.45 am. Cost £1. All welcome

Loft Clear Out
Following the roof issues some stuff in the loft got damaged. We need a clean out to see what can be recovered for sale at the Christmas Fayre. So I hereby call a working party on July 6th (7-8pm) to sort out the loft. (if many people come the emphasis will be on party and not on work). No physical strength required.

Stellas Ordination
It’s official the Bishop of Warwick will be ordaining me as a Priest on Saturday July 3rd at 4.00 pm in the Cathedral. It would be great to see you all there. If you require a lift there is a list to sign up on.

The morning after the night before
On Sunday 4th July, the day after my ordination I will be celebrating my first Eucharist at 10am (doing the bits Malcolm normally does). This will be a great celebration followed by a family picnic at Coombe Abbey. The idea being - everyone brings a picnic and a chair - we all go to Coombe abbey - and play games. Again a list for those requiring a lift is on the noticeboard.

Your talents required…..
On Saturday 25th September, the last Saturday of Mission2Grow we shall be holding a talent show and need you to take part! Dust off your talent, be it a poem, monologue, musical instrument or dance and tell Tony Thistlewood about it. This is to be a fun event - not too serious please.

Digital Organ
This is the last Sunday for which we have a digital organ on trial. PCC are considering purchasing a new organ to give variety in our worship and this is a weekend we can have an organ on loan. PCC members would be grateful for any comments. Some have asked how PCC might afford this and whether any priorities have changed about refurbishing the Church. PCC can only consider this because of an extremely generous offer to cover the initial cost of the organ with an interest free loan. You will notice that the console has been moved this week to the North Aisle (by the font). This is because it has been difficult for Colin to hear the sound of the organ whilst under the present organ gallery. Please be extremely careful of the cabling that has had to go through the centre of the church. The organ itself will return to the manufacturers this coming week and PCC will be discussing what to do at its July meeting.

Advance Notice
PCC have decided to hold a Christmas Fayre on 27th November. There will be a meeting to start the organisation for this on 5th July (details to follow).

Wednesday Morning Study Goup
With great originality of mind the group which had met in Lent on a Wednesday morning and which has continued to meet has re-branded itself ‘The Wednesday Morning Study Group’. The next meeting will be on 30th June.

Wanted …. straight wooden coat hangers for Audrey Curtis. Please see her for details.
