Newsletter - 9th May 2010

A warm welcome to you on this Sixth Sunday of Easter. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

Thank you
A huge thank you to everybody who helped in whatever way towards Ann’s funeral. The Church cleaners, flower arrangers and all those who worked tirelessly in the kitchen, thank you all. It was a great comfort to see the church so full with so many of our friends. Your prayers and support over the past months have been invaluable. Barry

Christian Aid Week
This week is Christian Aid Week. If you can help by collecting around the parish, please take some envelopes. In the past we have been particularly poor at doing this and it would be good to improve our record.

Parachute Jump
Please, if you have sponsored Malcolm or Stella, would you bring the sponsor money in as soon as possible. Our thanks to all who have already paid up and offered their congratulations.

Confirmation Groups
We are continuing confirmation groups for adults and younger people this week. Adults are Monday, 8pm at 33 Brookshaw Way and younger folk on Tuesday after school (3.20 ish) in the Octagon. Please speak to Malcolm or Stella if you would like to join. The confirmation service will be on Ascension Day (13th May) at St Paul’s, Foleshill. As a consequence PCC have agreed that there should be no service here in the evening and are encouraging people to support our candidates at the confirmation service. Timing of the service will be published later when it has been confirmed.

Wednesday 10.30 Group
During Lent a group met after the 10am service on a Wednesday. We have decided to carry on meeting on alternate Wednesdays. The first meeting was last Wednesday and the next will be on Wednesday 19th May.
