Newsletter - 25Th October 2009

A warm welcome to you on this the Last Sunday after Trinity. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

Bereavement Service
Next Sunday is our annual bereavement service followed by a tea. We are looking for people to make sandwiches and cakes and to help serve the tea and assist in the kitchen from about 3:30pm to 5.30pm. If you are able to do either please have a word with me. Your help would be much appreciated. Barbara

…….. also if you would like the name of a relative or friend added to the list of people we remember, please speak to Malcolm or Stella.

Children’s Society Boxes
Once again it is time for the Children’s Society boxes to be emptied. It would be a great help to me if box holders could bring their boxes to church during the month of October. Thank you. Audrey Curtis

Coffee Club
The Coffee Club meets next on Wednesday 28th October at 10.45 am. Cost £1. All Welcome.

Raffle Tickets
If you can take some books of raffle tickets to sell amongst friends and work colleagues, please see Mel or Malcolm today. The Christmas Fayre is only a few weeks away (November 14th) and we really do need people to bring things in or offer to help.
We had hoped to sell raffle tickets at TESCO yesterday but had so few volunteers that it made it infeasible to do so.

Offers of bottles for the bottle stall and cakes for the cake stall are still needed. Thank you to those who have already brought things in or offered help - but we do need more.

Clothes wanted
Gill T and Gill G are asking for donated clean clothes etc for their nearly new stall. Thank you.

Dream Master
RCN Furnishings have donated a single bed to St. Mary’s to raise money for the Christmas Fayre. We have decided to auction the bed using a secret bidding system. Anyone wishing to make an offer can do so confidentially to Mel or Malcolm. Each week we will notify the highest bid on the notice board (no names) and the auction will continue. Closing date is 14th November (the date of the Fayre). If a bid is received prior to that date which we think is acceptable then we will close the bidding at that time. The bed retails at £180.00 and has drawers underneath. Please see picture (Does not show drawers) and details on noticeboard. If you wish to see the bed then it can be viewed at RCN in Henley Road, and we can make arrangements if you so wish.

Mobility Scooter
We have also been given a mobility scooter recently (from a good home). If anyone is interested in purchasing this (offers in the region of £250) please speak to Malcolm.

Come to a concert
Hannah (and Mike) will be in the Coventry Youth Orchestra concert tonight. It’s at the Guy Nelson Hall in Warwick School. Tickets are £7 (£5 concs) and available on the night. Do come and support and have a really good time. Start time 7.30 pm.
