Newsletter - 30th December 2007

A warm welcome to you on this First Sunday of Christmas. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

Mission Notice Board - letter and Christmas card from Vio, Home of Hope, Romania
Please read Vio’s latest letter. Vio is now aged 18 years [St Mary’s has sponsored her since 1996]. She attends vocational school and is training to be a baker. She hopes to move soon into one of Global Care’s flats with some of the other girls from the Home of Hope. It’s so good to have such good news. Sue Morton, for St Mary’s Mission Group

Mission Notice Board - more updates
Please see the Mission notice board for the latest news from:

Yeldall Manor - Yeldall is a Christian response to drug and alcohol addiction; established 30 years ago by Bill and Joanie Yoder. Despite a difficult year for staff and residents, it’s good to hear that things are improving. Read the Yeldall newsletter for more information.

USPG: Anglicans in World Mission - See the latest “Window” newsletter about USPG projects worldwide, and in particular, news from Archdeacon Stephen Taylor. We have supported Stephen’s ministry in Brazil since 1996. He is now helping to reconstruct the Diocese of Recife, preparing young clergy and ordinands for the future.

Global Care - See the Winter 2007/08 news brief for information about Global Care’s support to vulnerable children throughout the world; in Bangladesh, Uganda, India, Burma, Morocco, Romania and many other places. 2008 is Global Care’s 25th anniversary year. Please note their annual prayer day at Lawrence Sanders Road Baptist Church, Radford, on Saturday 12 January - 10am to 4pm - details on the notice board. Sue Morton, for St Mary’s Mission Group

Coffee Club
The Coffee Club will not meet now until the new year. We start back on Wednesday 9th January at 10.45 am. All welcome.

Recycling phones, keys etc
You may notice a recycling box in the Centre for old mobile phones, keys, foreign coins or notes and old costume jewellery. The Grace Research Fund are hoping that we can help provide some of these recyclable goods to help fund their work for the well being of babies and their families in this area. Please bring along any of the goods you may have.

Congratulations to Claire Stanley and Dean Butterworth
Congratulations to Claire and Dean on the birth of Aidan who was born on Wednesday 12th December. All are well.
