Newsletter - 9th September 2007

A warm welcome to you on this the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary and our Patronal Festival. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

David Robinson
We said ‘au revoir’ to David Robinson a few weeks ago. We wish him and his wife Diana well in their new work at St Mary Magdalen Hearsall Lane. David is to be licensed tomorrow evening,10th September at 7.30 pm and you are very welcome to attend.

Salvation Army Concert
The Coventry City Salvation Army Band will be playing at St Mary’s on Saturday 22nd September 2007 at 7 pm. Tickets £4, obtainable from the Vicar, Churchwardens or at the door on the evening of the concert.
Please come and join an evening of good music and fellowship, whilst raising much needed funds for the St Mary’s Refurbishment Fund and the work of the Salvation Army. Thank you. Gary Croshaw

Pennie Hartopp
Pennie’s final Sunday is next Sunday (16th September) followed by the meal together. The coach for Pennie’s licensing on 18th October will leave Walsgrave at 4 pm for the service at 8 pm. If you would like a seat, please let us know. It is likely to be a very late return given the licensing service begins at 8 pm.

Coffee Club
The Coffee Club meets next on Wednesday 19th September at 10.45 am. All Welcome. Gwen and Audrey

Warwickshire Farm Praise and Food Fayre
Make the 22nd September a diary date for your taste buds. Warwickshire’s finest farm and food producers gathering under one roof to tempt you with their mouth watering samples of great food and drink. The finale is the harvest festival with music and a service of farm praise. Please join us at Kingston Farm, Harbury from 10.30 am onwards, with the service at 4 pm. Entry and car park are free. Advance Notice - Harvest
Our Harvest this year will be a week earlier than usual on Sunday 30th September. We will be collecting tins etc as normal.

Emmaus Course
We shall be running an Emmaus Course in the months leading up to Christmas, starting on 19th September at 7.30 pm in the Octagon. Emmaus is a course similar in concept to Alpha and is an ideal course for people both new to the Christian faith or wanting to refresh a few forgotten ideas. If you would be interested in joining several others who have already expressed interest please speak to Malcolm as soon as possible.

We have heard from Albert this week. He is well and sends his best wishes to everyone. He is still hoping to return to England but as yet there are no definite plans. Please do remember him and his family in your prayers.
