Newsletter - 29th July 2007

A warm welcome to you on this Eighth Sunday after Trinity. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

Walsgrave Summer Festival 7th July
The final total for St Mary’s stalls was £117.50. Our thanks to everyone who donated gifts and tombola prizes. Alison Liggins and Jean Hudson.

David Robinson
David Robinson has announced his appointment as part time priest-in-charge of St Mary Magdalen, Hearsall Common from September. This means that his last Sunday with us will be on 5th August at 8am. If you would like to contribute to a small present to him and Diana please speak to Malcolm or Pennie today.

Pennie Hartopp
A couple of weeks ago we announced a move for Pennie Hartopp and her husband John. Pennie will take up an appointment as Team Vicar of St Mark’s, Godalming (in Surrey). The dates have yet to be finalised but it is likely that her licensing date will be in mid October. Later on, when we know dates and times we shall organise transport to support Pennie at the licensing and, of course, be organising a farewell here.

Working as a Lay Visitor in Hospital
Are you interested in the role of being a Lay Visitor at either Walsgrave or St Cross hospitals? Both Hospitals are recruiting members to join their Hospital Lay teams. Lay Visitors support the Chaplaincy team. It is a also a very responsible role, bringing you into close contact with people at very vulnerable times in their lives.
Training is given but in the first instance you need to speak to Malcolm if you are interested or require more information as names have to be recommended through him.
