Newsletter - 5th November 2006

A warm welcome to you on this All Saints Sunday. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

The flowers in the Lady Chapel this week are in memory of Wally Sleath.

Next Week…. please remember that next week is Remembrance Sunday. As we need to be at the War Memorial for 11am our service will start prompt at 10 am.

Congratulations …..
to Sheila Wick who received a long service award for voluntary work at the hospital 10 days ago. Sheila has completed 35 years voluntary service at the hospital - a fantastic effort and achievement. Well done Sheila.

Bennet & Priya Rajmohan
Many of you will remember Bennet, Priya, Deepthi & Preethi who returned to India in February. Priya recently sent us some photos from their holiday which are displayed on the noticeboard by the Octagon. They are all well and send their love.

Scout Appeal
Beavers and Cubs are collecting old mobile phones, PDA’s and Used printer cartridges for their Scout Appeal. If you have any, or know where they may be found , bring them in or speak to Alison Liggins.

Coffee Club
The Coffee Club meets next on Wednesday 15th November at 10.45 am. All welcome.

Advance Notice: There is to be a special Christmas Coffee morning on Wednesday 29th November in aid of Coventry Myton Hospice. On this day there will be stalls, raffle, cakes etc as well as the normal coffee morning.
Gwen and Audrey thought it would be good to inform you of where some of the money from Coffee Club has been donated to since they took over. £100 has been given to St. Mary’s for the refurbishment fund, £50 to Coventry Air Ambulance and £50 to “Brookview” Care Home. Well done and thank you to everyone who supports us. Gwen and Audrey

Italian Holiday
Pennie and Malcolm are making some enquiries about the possibility of laying on a 7-10 day holiday in Italy (Florence & Assisi) next September/October. If you might be interested in joining a smallish group on such a holiday, please speak to either of us. The plan is that we should have a semi-independent holiday (maybe one or two planned activities a day with plenty of free time for your own exploration). There will be considerable walking involved and you need to remember Assisi is built on a hill! No costs available as yet but expressions of interest would be appreciated with no commitment.

Christmas Fayre
Helpers are needed on Friday 18th November with putting up tables and general setting up from 4.30 - 7 pm. Help is also needed in the kitchen on the Saturday. If anyone can help please have a word with Alison, Jean or Barbara. Thank you.
