Newsletter - 3rd Sept 2006

A warm welcome to you on this the Twelfth Sunday after Trinity. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the Octagon for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

We welcome Will and Hannah Morley-Brown, Ruth and their families today at 10am for Ruth’s baptism. All of the words of the service are in today's order of service and you will need no hymn book!

Coventry Myton Hospice
Coventry Myton Hospice, Cannon Park Shop are looking for all types of books, including children's. If you can help please bring them to church and I will see that they get to the shop. Thanks. Ann Walker

Sound System
After a few false starts we now have a date for the installation of the improved sound system. The engineer will be coming on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 5th-7th September at the end of which we hope everything will be sorted. Thank you for your patience.

Salvation Army Band Concert
Congregation, family and friends are invited to a concert by the Salvation Army Band on Friday 8th September at 7.30 pm in church. Price £4 to include refreshments. Proceeds will be split between St Mary’s Refurbishment Fund and the Salvation Army. Tickets available from the Vicar, Churchwardens and on the door.

Sponsored Cycle Ride
Next Week (Saturday 9th) is the annual sponsored cycle ride (walk, horse ride etc) around local churches. The event organised by the Coventry and Warwickshire Historic Churches Trust encourages church members to visit other churches during the day and to raise money for their own church and the trust by inviting sponsors for the number of churches they visit.
If you are interested in taking part, please have a word with Tony Thistlewood today.

Fund Raising at St Mary’s
PCC had a good discussion about Fund Raising at its last meeting. Jean Hudson is willing to head a group of people who will look into possible fund raising events at St Mary’s. The aim of raising the funds will be for the refurbishment of the church itself.
If you are interested in helping on such a group please speak to Jean. There will be a meeting of the group on Tuesday 5 September. Please put the date in your diary now if you feel you can help in any way.

Coffee Club
The Coffee Club meets next on Wednesday 6th and 20th September at 10.45 am. All welcome.
Gwen and Audrey
