Newsletter - 26th June 2005

A warm welcome to you on this Fifth Sunday after Trinity. Please do join us after the service to share in a cup of tea or coffee. All ages are welcome at St. Mary’s, children included. There is also a crèche in the office for the very young if you need it. If this is your first time with us, please do fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter, so that we can keep in touch with you. St Mary’s is fitted with a hearing loop system. Members of the congregation who have a hearing aid with a ‘T’ switch will find that they can hear better when it is switched to ‘T’.

Envelopes, Gift Aid and Standing Orders
St Mary’s relies upon regular financial giving to keep afloat. There are various ways in which you can plan your giving to St Mary’s. The easiest way is by Standing Order direct from your bank to ours. Alternatively we can provide you with envelopes (one for each week of the year) which encourages you to give each week. If you are not here one week you save up the envelope until the next time you come. If you are not in either of these schemes please have a word with Jean Hudson, our planned giving officer who will be happy to give you more details. Finally, if you pay income tax, for one signature on a piece of paper we can reclaim the tax you have already paid on your gift. So for every £5 we can reclaim from the tax man another £1.40. Again speak to Jean if you would like to know more.

Stall - Longford Park Fun Day - 2nd July
On 2nd July, St Mary’s are having a stall to sell new and nearly new items at Longford Park Fun Day. We need volunteers to set up from 10am to noon and people to run the stall from noon until 5pm in 1 or 2 hour slots. Could you please help us by signing the rota on the notice board as we need a minimum of 2 people on the stall. We also need to collect things to sell so please have a look around at home and ask family and friends and bring suitable items (no jumble, please) and give them to Alison, Barbara or Sheila. All the money raised will be going to the refurbishment of the church.

Christian Aid The total raised by the Christian Aid collection at St Mary’s is £592.74. Thank you to all those whose generosity helped make this total and a big thank you to those who gave their time to collect. Last year the total was just £435.00 - so this year is an enormous improvement. Your support will improve life for people in more than 50 of the world’s poorest countries. In Peru, installing a clean, safe water supply has transformed life in the village of Yanacullo.
